RG: Introduce yourself
VK: Hello! My name is Vasko “UNDER_OATHS” Krastev
I’m a semi-professional gamer or to be specific ex-WaRG:aming Silver League player which also explains why most of my stream is centered around World of Tanks. Other than that I’m in my last year in university studying Fashion design. It could be said it is a strange combination but I’m a strange person myself.
Though the person behind the camera and the real me are the same thing – a very seriously and strategical-minded artist. Which leads to the idea that my viewers are my family. Because we are all weird in a rather adorable way.
Now ? You might ask what I do when I’m not streaming?
In my free time I normally either draw or make photographs of nature, or just manage newer players into the competitive scene of World Of Tanks. Of course I’m not a lazy person either and I work as a Sales Representative in B.M Investments which is a Forex Trading broker so I’m combining my hobbies with a job I enjoy doing ( lets me meet even more people than I can normally.)
RG: Which game(s) are you streaming?
VK: World Of Tanks, Paladins, Dead by Daylight and some single player horror games from time to time (like Soma, Amnesia)
RG: Give us 3 facts about yourself you would like your fans to know.
VK: I could say I’m friendly, honest and a little devilish.
RG: Streaming is a fun yet challenging job. How did you decide to start streaming?
VK: .A friend actually got me into streaming while we were playing back in the days competitive. He couldn’t do it so asked me to start recording the game replays and with time that developed into a stream.
RG: What is the one piece of advice you wish someone gave you when you started streaming?
VK: Be more consistent. That’s the advice I needed the most in the beginning but now that I know it. It is a lot better.
RG: Tell us about your gaming rig – CPU, GPU, PSU, Memory, Video Card, Motherboard, Monitor, etc 🙂
VK: The PC is a rather good build for the time being though some upgrades might be needed in the upcooming year.
CPU – Intel Core i7-6700 4,00GHz
RAM – 2x 8 GB Kingston 2133MHz DDR4 HyperX Fury
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX970 4 GB DDR4
HDD: SEAGATE Barracuda 1 TB SATA III-600
Other than that, I got 3 monitors, 2 of which are HP 1740s that are used for following chats and information charts. The 3rd one is the more special one it is a LG (one of those fancy 3D monitors) and that is where most of my gaming happens. The LG is 21 inch while the HP’s are 17.”
RG: Tell us about the peripherals you use – Mouse, Keyboard, Headphones/mic, Headset, Mouse Pad
VK: My peripherals are my main battle tools as some gamers say. So I use rather different ones. I dislike major brands like Razer and Roccat due to the fact that their prices are inflated only due to the name while in the mean time you can get the same quality at a lower price.
My mouse/keyboard set is a Urage Illuminated series. Both of them have served me well in the last 2 years and hope that they will continue to do so. Why I like them? The mouse has a more specific grip that fits the way I play (Claw grip) and makes it a lot easier for me. While the keyboard? Well, it is pretty sturdy and has survived a lot of pain (for which I hope it can foRG:ive me about). The mouse pad is a Razer one (though i dislike the brand,it was gifted to me so why not use it? ) World of Tanks edition.
Now about the headset and mic? I got 2 mics. One is a Blueball Yeti on a stand while the other is the F.R.E.Q 3 from my headset. I also use a Logitech C270 video cam which provides me with a decent enough image (720p HD) for the stream.
RG: Which is the next hardware part you consider upgrading? Which is the next peripheral you plan to change with a newer/ more versatile/ more powerful one?
VK: I’m thinking of getting another video card in the next few months due to the fact I want to extend to a 4 monitor set-up and my current one only handles up to 3.
Haven’t really stopped on a specific card model but the brand will surely be a NVidia due to better performance.
RG: Which, in your opinion, is the piece of hardware no self-respecting gamer would compromise on?
VK: All of it. There shouldn’t be a specific piece of hardware a gamer should compromise on. Because it is all tied into one machine and making a compromise normally hurts the performance in a way.
RG: Which, in your opinion, are the must-have peripherals for a novice streamer on a budget?
VK: Depending on the budget I would say a 720p camera ( the Logitech c270 is rather cheap and has good enough quality – 30 EUR or so).
A decent enough microphone that doesn’t buzz or catch side noices. (Those can be found in almost any hardware store and cost no more than 10-15 EUR). Not going to give a specific brand on this due to different tastes.
Keyboard/Mouse? Well, it really depends on the person and his grip and style of play. I’m a claw grip person so I got such a mouse for example. But I’d always recommend my Illuminated set to anyone? Why ? It is cheap to begin with and they are both sturdy enough so that you can game long hours. Plus,if you are a FPS player you got decent dpi on the mouse. The price of the set is no more than 30 EUR as well.
So I would say, if you are running on a short budget that’s probably the best for a budget of 80-100 EUR. Though that is my personal opinion. You don’t need fancy gear, people come in the stream to watch you! Not your keyboard or mouse! Though the camera is important due to the fact you need good quality on it so that’s the one thing you shouldn’t be stingy on (same goes for mic).
RG: Is there anything you would do differently if you were starting your streaming channel today?
VK: One thing I would do differently is not count on other people for support.
I would study everything beforehand and do all the graphics and details on my own. Because that way the stream would be even more unique and attractive.
Plus I would be myself from the set-go!
RG: A final word of advice to our readers?
VK: The best advice I can give you all is : Just be yourself! Never fake your personality and keep your mind sharp while aiming high for the sky!
