How to Choose the Best Monitor to Combat Eye Strain?
It is a fact that your monitor will either help reduce your eye strain or make it worse. So, here is a list of things to consider when choosing the right monitor for you.
Blue Light Filters
The Blue light filter reduces the amount of blue light exposure from your screen. Remember that blue light can suppress the production of melatonin, which is the sleep-inducing hormone, so filtering this light out can help you sleep better. It will also decrease digital eye strain, so your eyes won’t feel so exhausted by the end of the day. Before purchasing your monitor, make sure that it has the technology to filter out blue light.
Display Flicker and Low Refresh Rate
If the refresh rate of a monitor is low, you’ll notice a phenomenon that is akin to “redrawing” of the image, which we perceive as a flicker. Monitor flickering is unpleasant to look at and can cause eye strain. Make sure to get a monitor with 60Hz or above refresh rate.
Too Low or Too High Screen Resolution
Screen resolution is the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. More pixels means more information will be visible on your screen. Today the in-demand monitor resolutions are 1920 x 1080, 2560 x 1440, and 3840 x 2160, which is also known as the ‘4K resolution’.
Deciding on the screen resolution should be done with the screen size in mind, however. Very high or very low resolutions are not so eye-friendly if they are not matched by the panel size (see table below for recommended size and resolution pairing). However, always make sure that you choose a monitor with high resolution and high PPI (Pixel Per Inch).

Screen Glare and Glossy Screens
