Corsair is among Computex 2017 Event participants, and it was expected to introduce a new line of gaming chairs. However, the company used the biggest hardware event to promote the latest gaming peripheral in its portfolio. Corsair K68 is a mechanical keyboard, intended to save players the unnecessary hassle related to spilled beverages and hardware breakdowns. The K68 keyboard is waterproof and dustproof.

The K68 uses Cherry MX Red LED-lit switches and comes with a silicone rubber shield that protects them against liquids. The other features that make Corsair believe the K68 will be gamers’ first choice are the anti-ghosting features,  dedicated media controls, the per-key dynamic backlighting, Windows key lock mode, and the on-the-fly audio adjustment.

The following frequently occurring situation inspired Corsair designers to craft the K68. Players reach for their beverage and at the same moment, they realize they have to act very quickly in the game. In such a case, they instinctively reach the WASD keys, which usually results not only in a lost round but also in hardware damages. That was the reason why they equipped each of Corsair’s K68 switches with individual silicone rubber shields that keep dust and grime at bay.

The keyboard has a water and dust resistant rating of IP32. In other words, the rubber layer underneath the keys protects the keyboard circuitry against liquid splashes. In case of an accident, users just have to remove the keyboard tiles and wipe down the spill.

The Cherry MX Red switches are backed with LED lights. The K68 does not have dedicated macro keys, but users are enabled to remap the keys through the Corsair Utility Engine Software.

For the time being, Corsair K68 is available in North America, China, and South Korea. The vendor is yet to specify a date when it will be distributed in other countries. The keyboard is backed by a two-year warranty. Its release has already aroused players’ curiosity as to whether Corsair plans on launching similar keyboards with RGB lighting and different key switches.
