It seems the Assassin’s Creed: Origins is not the sole Ubisoft game that stretches beyond the standard digital and physical copy release. Mere hours ago, Ubisoft announced that a novel, based on the highly-anticipated shooter Far Cry 5 is slated to hit bookshelves on February 13, 2018.

The novel Far Cry Absolution is written by Urban Waite. The book will be published by Ubisoft’s in-house publishing team and distributed by Simon & Schuster. The hardcover version will cost $27, while the paperback will cost $9.99. Ubisoft revealed that an eBook version was in the works but remained tight-lipped what its price would be. The Far Cry Absolution will be available in the US and Canada.

David Bedard, Product Manager, said that “Far Cry Absolution gives fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in Hope County and learn the backstory and motivations of members of the Resistance that will join them in the battle against the Project at Eden’s Gate.”

Urban Waite himself shared that the Far Cry worlds allowed him to tell “very human, and very unbelievable stories”. He went on to say that he was glad to bring Far Cry 5 characters to life and added that those who read the novel will get to know them better than those who only play the game.

Far Cry Absolution takes place before the events of Far Cry 5. The citizens of the small town of Fall’s End are trying to deal with the worrisome presence of a fanatical cult – the Project at Eden’s Gate. When authorities refuse to investigate what happened to her family, the owner and bartender of The Spread Eagle bar Mary May Fairgrave decides to conduct her own investigation. However, the cult member William Boyd crosses her path and alters the course of her battle.

Far Cry 5 will be released across all platforms on February 27, 2018.
