Today, Bandai Namco made quite a surprising announcement. The Tekken 7 developer revealed that the next game character would be Noctis Lucis Caelum from the Final Fantasy XV. He is expected to join the Tekken 7 roster in spring 2018.

Judging from the trailer Bandai Namco released, Noctis can use magic, not to mention that his Engine Blade can do a lot of up-close and personal damage. The video hints at some other familiar faces, too.

The Tekken 7 community was not entirely amused by the announcement, though. As a matter of fact, the news about the Noctis arrival came a few hours after the surprising Sunday announcement of NetherRealm. The studio revealed that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be joining the Injustice 2 roster in the next Fighter Pack.

Noctis may not be coming to the fighting game anytime soon, but Geese Howard from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters will debut in December.

Tekken 7 is now out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
