It would not be excessive to say that the Friday The 13th: The Game had quite a rocky launch. Still, its popularity has been tremendously growing despite the bugs and servers issues. The developer IllFonic has invested a great deal of time and efforts to make the game run smoothly, but the Xbox One version remains the most problematic one.
The persistent issues that have befallen the Xbox One edition of the survival horror game made fans ask the developer whether and when an Xbox patch would be released. IllFonic has used Twitter to convey the message that the Xbox One patch was due to arrive “very soon”.
A month ago, the Retro Jason content went live on Steam and PS4. However, the patch for Xbox One did not get an Xbox certification. Consequently, IllFonic was not allowed to release it.
The reason why the patch failed to receive a certification was the memory leak issue combined with content instability. Xbox One users had every right to unhappy as this turn of events prevented them from taking advantage of the Day One Patch. In addition, they had to put up with the bugs and problems the patch was supposed to fix.
Although the tweet claims the update was coming soon, nothing could be further from the truth. The Xbox One version continues to struggle. IllFonic representatives announced that they would do their best to get the patch through the complicated certification process soon. However, they remain tight-lipped as to how long the process would take and what the current status of the verification is. In other words, “very soon” may mean a couple of days but it may also mean a couple of months.
Apart from the Xbox One certification obstacles, Friday The 13th: The Game has also made the headlines with the legal actions related to the intellectual property rights of the franchise. Victor Miller, the original writer, has entered into a legal battle with Sean Cunningham and Horror, INC. Horror representatives hurried up to reassure fans that the lawsuit has nothing to do with the Xbox One certification and the game distribution will not be affected in a negative manner.
