Earlier today, BioWare revealed an official Anthem video. The latter, created to promote the game, showcases a corn maze, which made some players question the seemingly weird developer’s decision.
The video shows how the corn maze is being built. Members of the development team talk about the process and explain why they have chosen a corn maze to introduce the Anthem. BioWare joined forces with Edmonton Corn Maze for the design. The trailer features a big Bioware logo and a soldier decked out in an exo-suit.
According to BioWare representatives, the market is oversaturated and promoting the game via banners and billboards would not be as effective and eye-catching as a corn maze. That is why they have decided to make a deviation from the conventional route. Jon Warner, Anthem’s Game Director, pointed that there was not a better way to show the growth of a new game than with corn.
Anthem is expected to be released across all platforms in fall 2018. According to people familiar with the matter, the title will be a fearsome rival of the upcoming Destiny 2. In previous announcements, Electronic Arts and BioWare officials shared that they have been working on the game for quite some time and once launched, it will turn into a long-term project. They hinted that they plan on developing Anthem over the next ten years.
The game has recently come into the spotlight with the controversial PS4 trailer. As reported by RealGear, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the button prompts had other symbols underneath.
Although the accident was a bit embarrassing, it turned out that the original trailer was the Xbox One X gameplay video with PS button prompts inserted over the top. The video was taken down from Sony’s official YouTube channel. Up until now, no official Anthem PS4 trailer has been released.
