According to a tweet published by Ben Brode, Hearthstone’s troublesome Druid is getting a nerf. Game’s Director did not miss to thank all players who voiced their concerns over the oppressive presence of druids on ladder and reassured them that changes are likely to be announced in the next few days.
Hearthstone players believe this is a much-needed change. It has been about a month since the release of the Knights of the Frozen Throne. During that time, Druid decks have been a bit of a headache. Currently, they continue dominating the meta.
Hearthstone has never been easy to balance game. The Pirate Warrior and Quest Rogue metas in the recent expansions also caused players some troubles. The addition of the Ultimate Infectation and the Spreading Plague, in combination with the Jade package power made the Druid one of the most popular decks in competitive play. Consequently, players have been repeatedly asking Blizzard for nerfs and ranted about the class’ power level.
Experienced Hearthstone players who commented the upcoming nerf via gaming forums say that the changes are likely to affect the Ultimate Infestation first. The latter is a 10-mana Druid card that deals five damage, gives five armor, draws 5 cards from player’s deck, and summons a 5/5 monster. Once the changes arrive, at least one of those effects will no longer be available. Blizzard may also target the Jade Idol, Wild Growth, or Innervate.
The upcoming Druid nerf follows the Quest Rogue adjustment that occurred after the Journey to Un’Goro release. Back in February, Spirit Claws and Small Time Buccaneer underwent some changes. Last September, Blizzard nerfed the Shaman and Warrior.
