The Evil Within 2 publisher, Bethesda, has issued a blog post providing in-depth details regarding the new player progression system available at the upcoming survival horror game.
The publisher hinted that staying alive in The Evil Within 2 will not be an easy task, but the upgrades should make the experience more pleasant and horrifying at the same time.
The Evil Within players should be familiar with the Green Gel. The more gel players collect the more upgrades they are able to make to the lead character Sebastian. The Green Gel still plays an important role in the sequel but it will not have an impact on the weapons. To improve their arsenal, players will have to pick up Weapon Parts.
John Johanas, the Game Director, commented on the possibilities The Evil Within 2 offers to players. He was quoted as saying that the sequel would give players with more freedom as compared to the original game. This time around, The Evil Within 2 devs have focused on providing players with the opportunity to take challenges that appeal to them.
As far as Sebastian’s customization is concerned, it has been broken down into several categories – health, stealth, combat, recovery, and athleticism, respectively. Consequently, players will be able to customize Sebastian’s abilities in a manner that corresponds to their own play style.
In terms of weapon customization, players will be enabled to customize their weapons for more reload time, ammo capacity, fire rate or firepower. It is important to note that the Warden Crossbow will have its own set of upgrades, including a range increase and changing the parameters for different bolts.
In the Evil Within 2 players will be able to craft ammo for the most commonly used weapons by using items gathered around the Union. These items can turn into healing supplies or ammo in the workbench stations around the Union.
The Evil Within 2 will be released across all platforms on October 13th (Friday, the 13th). It is developed by Tango Gameworks. Below, you will find an explanatory video containing insights into the game. Please note that the video contains scenes some viewers may consider disturbing.
