The next Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion will arrive on August 10th. Players expected the new Hearthstone content to be released in August, and over the weekend, Blizzard has finally confirmed the date. In addition, the gaming giant announced that it would host one more livestream event to unveil cards, included in the update.
The update will bring as many as 135 new cards across classes as well as new game mechanics such as Legendary Hero Cards and Lifesteal. The hero cards are a new card type. They are not spell, minion or weapon. When played, the Death Knight Hero card replaces player’s hero and gives new Hero Power.
Players who do not want to purchase the new expansion will have access to eight free single-player missions. Once completed, they provide players with a chance to get a free legendary card and three card packs (one for each completed wing). The eight free missions are epic bosses’ fights and a showdown against the Lich King.
Blizzard further explained that each of the nine heroes has “embraced the Lich King’s dark power to serve him as a Legendary Death Knight Hero card.” However, they have not completely fallen under Lich King’s sway. Consequently, players have the opportunity to decide how to use the abilities at their command. Although each Death Knight hero is different, all of them offer possibilities for enhancing one’s Hearthstone gameplay.
Hearthstone Game Director Ben Brode and Brian “bmkibler” Kibler will host the final livestream before the expansion launch. Fans can watch it via Twitch and Facebook Live. It kicks off today at 11 AM PDT.
