Lightbulb Crew has something in store for horror games fans everywhere. The upcoming horror-themed tactical turn-based game Othecide will be available on Steam Early Access later this year.

Horror Fans Unite

Players are set to dive into an ethereal monochromatic dimension and experience dynamic turn-based combat that awaits on the other side. Set in a nefariously bleak separate space outside the reality as we know it, a group of otherworldly warriors who are known as the ‘Daughters’ will battle against swarms of nightmarish monsters that are bent on the obliteration of mankind.

Inside Othercide

The game has a unique visual narrative opting for red and gray to create a combo which is distinctive and powerful. What makes the game interesting is its combat system and unique character abilities, such as the “Initiative Sequence System”. It will allow players to interrupt attacks, execute actions that have activation delays, and counter enemy threats based on reaction skills.

Destroying enemies will see your character progress to the next level and unlock extra skills. Continuing monster killing spree monsters will give players the ability to gather memories from defeated enemies that will increase their power.

Othercide’s main characters the ‘Daughters’ are a group of three powerful warrior types, the Blademaster, the Soulslinger, and the Shieldbearer. These characters’ strengths and skills will develop as the game progresses. However, the ‘Daughters’ are not invulnerable, and the Steam description indicates that players will face challenges and will not able to escape the fight unscathed.

Getting Hyped Up

According to the official game description, “Experience the tension of every decision with permanent death, roguelite features, deadly missions, and limited resources. Every decision counts and comes with a sacrifice, whether it be resources or in blood”. It goes on saying: “Try to endure as long as possible while facing terrible and sometimes deadly choices. Even in defeat, new truths are learned, and options arise as sacrifices bring you closer to success.”

It is still too early for a straightforward review of the game. The information currently available is scarce but Othercide looks promising. The horror game community will have to be patient though. The early Access Release on Steam is plotted for the period between the second and third quarter of this year.
