After several weeks of teases and speculations, Riot published a reveal video to introduce the next League of Legends champion. Ornn is from Freljord, but he stands apart from the other cold region champs by being bright red, full of fire. Although at a first glance he looks a bit out of place for a champ from Freljord, he is right at home in the mountains and he is totally prepared to put his skills into practice.

Ornn will be using his blacksmithing abilities to help himself and his teammates. The champion’s description reads that he “values his privacy” and “stokes bubbling cauldrons of molten stone to forge items of unsurpassed quality”.  However, “divine beings are once again meddling in mortal affairs. During the upcoming wars, the Freljord—and the world—will need a good blacksmith.”

Ornn’s effectiveness depends on getting close enough to put a magma pillar behind a target, but the combination of attacks he enables suggests a potent laning presence down at bot lane. His crowd control can totally make enemies regret being next to him and his teammates feel protected.

Check out Ornn’s ability kit below.

Passive: Living Forge & Master Craftsman

The Living Forge passive lets him spend gold to forge items and build store items anywhere, provided that he is out of combat. There is no telling whether this is valid for potions, though. He can also upgrade some of them, which means his ADC’s Infinity Edge is going to hurt too badly.

Ornn and his teammates can take advantage of certain upgrades for select items in the shop. It is important to note that allied players can get one upgraded item per player.

Q: Volcanic Rupture

Basically, the Volcanic Rupture is Vel’Koz’s Void Rift with a bit of extra. The Q seems to be one of the pivotal abilities in his kit. Ornn slams the ground and sends out a fissure that not only deals damage, but also slows down the enemies. Shortly after, a magma pillar forms at the target location and serves as a tiny wall for a while.

W: Bellows Breath

Ornn’s W deals a sweet percent of damage and brings the Brittle. The latter is a new form of CC and it is said to make Ornn a real nightmare come true in team fights.

Ornn belches out flames that deal a portion of enemy’s health as magic damage. The enemies that get struck by immobilizing effects become Brittle.

E: Searing Charge

Ornn’s E enables him to blast through any terrain that a player makes and deal a devastating damage to the enemies he passes through. If Ornn runs into terrain, he knocks enemies up with an AOE effect when he collides with a wall during his charge.

R: Call of the Forge God

Ornn summons a giant fire elemental that slowly charges towards him. If he strikes the elemental with the charge, he can redirect it towards enemies and inflict the Brittle effect on those it runs over.

Ornn is expected to hit the PBE servers in the next few days in preparation for the upcoming 7.17 patch.
