Mere hours ago, Capcom confirmed the existence of the Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. The updated version will be released on January 16, 2018, on Windows PC and PS4. It will include an Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, an in-game Gallery, as well as UI updates, a second V-trigger move for all characters, and more.

Street Fighter 5: Arcade Mode will release as a stand-alone version and as an update. As for the stand-alone version, it will include all DLC characters from the first two seasons and it will carry a $39.99 price tag.

Existing Street Fighter 5 owners can get the update for free. According to Capcom’s announcement, it will include all “gameplay-related content” from the Arcade Edition. However, it is important to mention that the DLC characters will not be added for free. They are sold separately but players can also earn them with in-game Fight Money,

Capcom announced that the initial version of the game will be the only one players need to purchase. That being said, it remains uncertain whether costumes and stages would be included in the update.

The game also arrives with a new color scheme for the menu, and UI improvements. As a matter of fact, Capcom promised “a completely redesigned” user interface.

Since Street Fighter 5 launch in February 2016, players have been repeatedly asking if and when Capcom would consider the addition of a true arcade mode. The game launched with a Survival mode. A cinematic story mode was added in June 2016.
