Supergiant Games- the developer of the popular action- RPG Transistor, has announced the release date of the long-anticipated game Pyre. Its official launch is scheduled for July 25th. The game will be compatible with PC and PS4. According to the information, posted on developer’s website, players who pre-order now, will be given a 10% discount upon game’s arrival.

Pyre falls into the category of the RPG games. The gameplay is centered around a competition named the Rites. Each team consists of three players whose aim is to extinguish the signal flame of the opposing team. One of the most notable features of the game is the apparent lack of Game Over. In other words, players progress through the game no matter if they win or lose. If they fail in the battle, they can continue the journey of redemption.

The studio claims that there will not be two players to have the same experience with the Pyre. There was not a chance to get stuck in the game or see the Game Over screen. Instead, the defeat is presented as a part of the journey. That explanation is considered a bit vague, but players suppose it will be similar to the Bastion. The narrative will most probably fit in player’s death and then, he/ she is born anew.

The Versus Mode is a local PvP. Players can customize their characters, and assign them specific abilities thus improving their gameplay.

Supergiant representatives said that their aim was to provide players with an interactive narrative that allows them to identify themselves with the story. They also highlighted that the game retains a similar style to the previous releases. Still, it was significantly larger and different from the Bastion and Transistor.

The main differences lie in the number of characters and the versatility the Pyre offers. Each of the characters has different attributes. Players are enabled to add attributes and give their team an edge over the competition.

The Transistor was launched in 2014, and since then, Supergiant Games has been working on Pyre’s creation. According to players who have been impatiently waiting for a confirmation of Pyre’s release, this is the most beautifully animated game the company has created so far.
