The iconic world of Doom is undeniably one of the first-person shooter pioneers. It has made its comeback to the current generation with gore, blood, and action-packed demon slaying fiesta.

Fans have also been treated to the return of the Wolfenstein franchise that succeeded in bringing a dose of nostalgia. The beloved franchise has been infused with a modern engine. The game is set for players to relive the action shooter that has the alternate outcome of the Second World War with Nazi Germany emerging victorious.

During their initial launch back in the 90s, these two fan favorite games have been dubbed as classics. With the recent developments, we can only assume that another iconic title will soon join the trend.

Developers take on Quake

The Wolfenstein developer MachineGames has recently indulged fans in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit. The Q&A aimed to let gamers peek into their future projects.

When a Redditor asked if they would consider rebooting Quake, Jerk Gustafsson, MachineGames’ Executive Producer said that “developing a Quake game is and will always be on my bucket list.”

With fans getting excited over Quake, MachineGames has also responded to inquiries about the Wolfenstein franchise. They added that the reboot of Wolfenstein would be a trilogy series.

Projects lined up

Fans can expect to see Wolfenstein 3 in development after the release of YoungBlood and Cyberpilot. The studio has also expressed their interest in developing a brand-new Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but we can only assume it is quite unlikely at this time.

A new Quake may appear to be just an idea as of now. However, the enthusiasm of people over at MachineGames has sparked hope in the community. So, the possibility of Quake returning to the gaming scene is not so farfetched.
