After Apex Legends’ success, Respawn Entertainment will be working on a new big title: “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”.
Respawn and the Force
Respawn Entertainment was in the middle of a different game when EA proposed the Star Wars game. The said project was shelved for the studio to commence production on “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”.
Start of production
Game director Stig Asmussen said to IGN “I think it started with EA approaching us at Respawn, and asking. I had a team, we were working on a game, and they said, “What do you guys think about Star Wars?”.
“Unanimously, my team hands down, everybody was interested in working on a Star Wars, even though we were really interested in the other game that we were working on, we saw this as an opportunity,” Asmussen added. “It’s like, hey, when are you ever going to get a chance to work on a Star Wars game?”
Secret project
Details on what the halted project was were not revealed. It’s easy to theorize that it might be “Titanfall 3” or another FPS game, but with information so scarce, we cannot say for sure.
Respawn could return to the project after the Star Wars production wraps up. The project seems to have had the team interested, so we might just have to keep our radars active for more details.
What we know so far
“Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” is set for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC release on November 15, 2019.
Limited details are known about the game storyline. However, we know that it is set after the events of “Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith”.
In the game, you play as Cal Kestis. He is an abandoned Padawan who must finish his Jedi training, learn new Force abilities, and master the art of dueling with a lightsaber, all while attempting to lay low in order to evade the Empire’s Inquisitors. Inquisitors are tasked with tracking down the remnants of the Jedi after Order 66 was executed.
