Mere hours ago, Nintendo revealed details about the mini SNES Classic arrival. The mini console will be released in the fall of 2017. Its launch is scheduled for September 29th. The US price is set at $79.99. As for the European pricing, it is yet to be announced.
The standalone mini-console will come with a total of 21 pre-installed games – EarthBound, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Donkey Kong Country, to name a few. However, the most surprising title in the list is the Star Fox 2. Similar to its predecessors, the mini console will allow players to play games on HD TVs via an HDMI connection.
The SNES Classic Mini is the follow-up of the NES Classic. The latter was released in 2016 and it was available at retailers over relatively short time. The high demand and the limited stock made it extremely difficult to find. At the beginning of 2017, the NES Classic was discontinued. Nintendo representatives made hundreds of customers angry by announcing that they have never meant to make the console a permanent product.
As mentioned above, the soon-to-be-released console will include the Star Fox 2 game. The latter was intended to be a direct sequel to the Star Fox, but it was cancelled due to the Star Fox 64 arrival. Despite the cancellation, fans have never lost interest in the game. On the contrary- they have been constantly hunting for clues about Star Fox 2 release. Back in 2015, they discovered that Star Fox 2 was fully finished, but for one reason or another, its release has been put off until now.
The SNES Mini Classic edition release is scheduled just on time for the holiday rush. Fans remain hopeful that this time, there will not be any shortages and they will have no troubles with getting a unit.
