Earlier today, the provider of casino and sports betting services Betway and ESL announced they have entered into a partnership agreement. Betway is now a major sponsor of the ESL One Cologne 2017 event. The deal would result in “enhanced viewing experience” for gamers who are also keen on placing wagers on their favorite teams’ performance.
The ESL One Cologne 2017 is to take place between 7th and 9th of July. It gained a considerable recognition as the biggest Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournament worldwide. Betway will add live odds from its team of eSports traders to the broadcast.
As many as 16 of the best e-sports teams on a global scale will take part in the tournament. The team that manages to defeat the other 15 will scoop the ESL One Trophy as well as the most generous part of the $250,000 prize pool. The LANXESS Arena will play host to the event.
Anthony Werkman, Director of Marketing and Operations at Betway, commented on the partnership. He said that the bookmaker was pleased to be a part of the ESL Cologne One event, considered a landmark in the CS:GO calendar. He remained positive that fans would gladly embrace the opportunity to test their e-sports knowledge against the expert traders and wished them best of luck.
Betway is no stranger to the e-sports industry. Back in September 2016, the bookmaker signed a deal with Ninjas in Pyjamas. It is also a member of ESIC (Esports Integrity Coalition). The latter is a regulatory body dedicated to fighting corruption and cheating in e-sports. In addition, Betway also runs a Twitch channel that takes pride in featuring consistent and engaging content.
The partnership between Betway and ESL comes a few months after the measures Valve took against unregulated betting operators. That gave the regular providers of betting services a green light to expand their coverage. E-sports market analysts defined the deal between Betway and ESL as yet another indication for strengthening the relationships between bookmakers and e-sports industry.
