The summer is at its peak but gamers are impatiently waiting for the fall season as this is that time of the year when the most-anticipated games are released. Destiny 2 makes no exception. It comes to consoles on September 6th. Its PC release is scheduled for October 24th. The sequel does not suffer from a lack of popularity but Bungie decided to catch the wave and team up with Rockstar Energy Drink to promote the game.

Images and videos showing Destiny 2-branded Rockstar Energy Drink cans circulate across the social media and video sharing sites. The different energy drink flavors display different guardians without their helmets. The promotional cans have a unique code that can be registered online and the winning codes get a prize. Although the cans are already available at some stores, the above-mentioned codes can be redeemed on September 1st at the earliest.

For the time being, the information remains scarce, but Rockstar has added a support page on its official website where a few FAQ regarding age restrictions and account creation can be found. There is no telling what would be the in-game loot that can be unlocked by redeeming the codes, though. According to the information on the cans, customers can win PS4 Pro Systems, Collector’s Edition Games, or a titan edition Husqvarna Motorcycle.

At the time of writing, neither Bungie nor the Rockstar Inc. representatives have published an official statement regarding their partnership.

As a matter of fact, Bungie is no stranger to cross-promotional ideas. This is not the first time the developer partners with energy drink companies for the promotion of upcoming titles. Two years ago, Bungie joined forces with Red Bull for the Destiny Red Bull Quest promotion. In order to unlock the Swiftriver Sparrow and the XP booster consumable, players had to redeem the codes on the promotional Red Bull cans. A few years ago, the company collaborated with Mountain Dew prior to Halo release.

As for the loot that can be earned upon purchasing a Rockstar Energy Drink can, Destiny 2 players hope it will be as appealing as the one from the previous promotion.
