August 28th marked the 5th anniversary of Guild Wars 2 and the developer ArenaNet decided to commemorate the notable date with a Design a Weapon contest. Players who have design skills and have dreamed of having a weapon that meets all their demands, now have a chance to create one. Submissions are accepted until October 8th, 11:59 pm PT.
Guild Wars 2 fans who would like to enter the competition have to download a special ZIP file, available on game’s website and follow the requirements for creating a Guild Wars 2-themed weapon. It is essential to note that entrants who fail to comply with all rules will not be eligible for participating regardless of the quality of their designs.
Each entrant is allowed to submit no more than three design ideas via the contest submission form. Please note that each entry file needs to be uploaded separately.
The developer will pick the 20 best weapon designs and the Guild Wars 2 community will have the final say on the winners. The best three design ideas will be used for the creation of new in-game weapons. The full list of the physical and digital prizes is available on the Guild Wars 2 website.
Meanwhile, Guild Wars 2 players are impatiently waiting for the Path of Fire expansion. The latter arrives on September 22nd. Pre-orders are now live and the expansion can be purchased for $29.99. Those who purchase it bundled with Heart of Thorns will have to pay $49.99. From the Patch of Fire expansion preview, it became clear that Heart of Thorns will bring huge changes to Tyria.
As for the Design a Weapon contest, this is not the first time when developers count on fans’ creativity. The Final Fantasy XIV fans already have experience with taking part in armor contests. In this respect, it would be exciting to see to a what extent Guild Wars 2 players would stretch their imagination.
