Russell Brower, the senior audio director and lead composer for Blizzard is leaving the company. That is what Brower himself announced via his Facebook page. He cited the “sound de-centralization” process as the main reason for the elimination of his position.

Russell Brower has created the music for some of the most popular Blizzard titles including Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, World of Warcraft series, and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

The composer published a lengthy post on his Facebook page and said that he was still willing to contribute to Blizzard projects as a freelancer. He also added that he was proud of the achievements of the team he has been working with over the last 12 years. However, the company growth and the”success of the “sound de-centralization” initiative made his position of a Senior Audio Director/Composer irrelevant.

He did not miss to express his gratitude to fans who have played an important role in his life by playing the Blizzard games and visiting the gaming events worldwide.

Although he is currently working on a new solo album, Mr Brower said that he was yet to figure out what he would be doing after leaving Blizzard’s family. Still, he promised to keep his fans posted about his future ventures.

Brower’s resume will undoubtedly open the doors to new exciting career opportunities. Before joining Blizzard, he used to work for Disney, NovaLogic, and Warner Bros. He has also won three Emmy Awards.

Back in 2014, the World of Warcraft soundtrack was selected to the Classic FM Hall of Fame. The piece “Invincible”, the Wrath of the Lich King track, was defined as “imbued with emotion and portent”. Brower’s work at Blizzard brought him multiple awards from across the media industry.

Blizzard is yet to release a statement on composer’s departure. The RealGear team remains committed to informing you if new information on the matter emerges.

Ed has fond memories of the times when he played games on an 8-bit console. If you want to make him talk for hours on end, just ask him about Valla from Heroes of the Storm. Eddie despises hackers and gamers who do not take the game seriously. He sees RealGear as a place where he has the freedom to express his viewpoint regarding PC and console games and put his journalism skills into practice.
