Tim Bennison Joins Capcom Vancouver as COO and Studio Director

Mere hours ago, the Japanese video game developer Capcom posted a press release announcing that Tim Bennison has been appointed as a Chief Operating Officer and Studio Director at Capcom Vancouver. Bennison will report to the CEO of Capcom U.S.A Kiichiro Urata and Capcom Game Studio Vancouver.

Kiichiro Urata himself commented on Bennison’s appointment. He was quoted as saying that Bennison will be Urata’s strategic partner and he would also help the entire senior executive team. Mr Urata did not miss to mention that Bennison will become a part of a passionate, talented team and remained hopeful that his presence at Capcom Vancouver will have a positive effect as far as company’s growth was concerned.

As for Bennison’s professional background, he has been working in the video game and digital media industries for 20 years or so. His vast experience in leading teams of more than 200 people is believed to be one of the reasons why Capcom considered giving him such an important role in the company.

Prior to joining Capcom, Bennison used to be an Eight Solutions COO. He also worked as a Chief Operations Officer at Gener8 Media Corp and Executive Producer and Vice President of Technology at Radical Entertainment.

Bennison was involved in the creation of a number of award winning titles – The Hulk, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and Prototype, to name a few. The newly appointed Capcom Vancouver COO was also an associate professor in Computer Science at Lincoln University in New Zealand. Bennison is a University of Waterloo graduate who has an M Math degree in Computer Graphics.
