John Howell, the Vice President of Global Partnerships at Twitch was reached for a comment on the new partnership. He was quoted as saying that working in collaboration with OpTic Gaming enabled Twitch to provide first and third person shooter fans with the chance of having the best from the genre under one roof. He also added that during the previous year, the shooter game tournaments set viewership records thus contributing to the rapid increase of first and third person shooter games on Twitch. Mr. Howell also said that the first and third person shooters were the catalyst in making the contemporary outlook on the e-sports industry.

As far as the OpTic Gaming team is concerned, it was founded back in 2006. It is comprised of several smaller teams. Each of them specializes in playing different games – Call of Duty, Counter Strike Global Offensive, Halo, and Gears of War. Since its establishment, OpTic has scooped multiple awards and conquered the Call of Duty gaming scene. Apart from that, the team is sponsored by the renowned Brisk and Turtle Beach brands.

The new partnership enables Twitch to consolidate its positions on the e-sports media market. More precisely, the video streaming platform seems to be trying to capture specific gaming genres. As mentioned above, Twitch joined forces with T-Mobile, and players are impatient to see the result of their venture namely the fighting game arena at E3. In addition, Twitch has recently taken the reins of the Tekken World Tour.
