E-sports fans keen on wagering on e-sports events will soon have yet another convenient option to fuel their gambling passion. The popular bookmaker Unikrn announced its entrance into the European market and inked a partnership with the French bookie RBP.

Unikrn has acquired a license, issued by the Malta Gaming Authority. Consequently, European players will be given the opportunity to engage in real-money wagering via its UnikoinGold crypto token. The new platform, called Unikrn EU, represents their expansion to the European market.

Before the acquisition of a Maltese license, Unikrn offered real-money betting in Australia. It holds a license from the UKGC meaning it is legally allowed to provide its services across the UK as well. Unikrn also offered some free betting services on CS: GO, LoL, and Dota 2 in some other jurisdictions. This was possible due to the Unikoin tokens that have now been replaced by the UnikoinGold.

Another free token – UnikoinSilver will be launched for players based in non-licensed jurisdictions. However, it is essential to note that these tokens cannot be traded on secondary markets.

The EU platform will welcome its first customers at the beginning of 2018. It will have a plethora of features including multimedia content, spectator, and skill betting apps, as well as a casino section. Unikrn is also expected to join forces with promising e-sports organizations such as the German BIG that manages a CS:GO team.

Unikrn’s partner – RBP – is a leading bookmaker in France and according to Emmanuel de Rohan Chabot, the RBP co-founder, the partnership with Unikrn will result in providing European e-sports fans with “regulated, safe and legal” betting options.

UnikoinGold is currently being distributed via a token sale or ICO and used as a payment method in jurisdictions where Unikrn had licenses (Australia and the UK). From next year on, the betting options will be available for players from almost all European countries.

The main difference between the UnikonGold and similar products is that most providers of gambling services use the crypto to skirt gambling regulation and accept players from jurisdictions where online gambling is prohibited.

One of the benefits of the new token is that customers do not necessarily have to place a wager to earn a token. The latter can be obtained by participating in a tournament or watching a match online.

The token sale ends on October 22.
