Cowin E7 (Pro) Review: Hear The Ultimate Quality

Cowin E-7 motto is “Headphones on. World off.” Read our review and check if the E-7 delivers as promised.

Deep bass, Active Noise Canceling, and superb battery life at a decent price

As soon as I had put my hands on the Cowin E-7 headphones, I knew that this would be the next product I am going to write a review about. If you are a brand slave or you expect me to tell you that the E-7 are strictly gaming headphones and sugar coat their capabilities, you’d better stop reading right now. If you are curious to find out what made me believe that the headphones deserve the attention of the gaming community, keep reading and get to know their specs.

UPDATE: Cowin has totally rocked the boat with the release of the budget-friendly E7 noise canceling headphones and it comes as no surprise that they have recently launched an upgraded version of their most successful product. Cowin E7 Pro is the successor of Cowin E7, but is it worth it to spend a few more bucks on it, or you’d be better off with the original E7? Well, it depends on what are you looking for.

The Cowin E7 Pro does not have any new features that make it far superior to its predecessor. That being said, it comes with some design improvements – softer ear cushions, improved mic and battery capacity, reduced weight, to name a few. But is the Pro version better in terms of performance and sound quality? Cowin E7 Pro active noise canceling headphones leak more balanced sound and ensure richer highs and crisp mids. My most honest opinion is that both models are an excellent solution for people who are constantly on the go and need high-quality headphones to isolate the environmental sounds, but at the same time they are reluctant to break the bank to get a pair. The truth is that the upgraded Cowin E7 Pro does not have a significantly improved ANC function, but I am positive that this is the best you can possibly find in the “budget Bluetooth headphones with ANC” category.

To cut a long story short, the Cowin E7 Pro is a good fit if you are concerned about the sound quality. In case you are looking for adequate active noise cancelling, you can go with the original E7.

The Basics

You know that I never spare my criticism and there must be a good reason why I recommend the E-7 as the best all-rounder headphones you can possibly find right now.

The Cowin E-7 superiority lies in its versatility. The device is designed with comfort in mind. It is cordless and suitable for gaming, watching movies, listening to music, and even business purposes.

The E-7 headphones are equipped with the highly valued active noise canceling technology. The device also provides you with 30 hours of wireless play time, swiveling ear cups and a decent quality built-in mic. In case the battery dies, simply plug the 3.5 mm audio cable and you are all set.

If you need some peace and quiet, or your family is sick and tired of hearing the loud explosions and gunfire while you play first-person shooters, you totally need headphones with noise canceling capabilities.

The active noise canceling technology enables you to turn on/ off the noise canceling mode as needed. You get exceptional clarity, deep bass, and extended frequency range. The soft padding ensures your utmost comfort when you play games, listen to music or go on a trip across the country. The headphones can pull you through 30 hours of playtime at Bluetooth mode, which is yet another awesome feature.

Design of Cowin E-7 Headphones

Even if you have seen and used hundreds of headphones, the Cowin E-7 appearance and its chrome accents will capture your attention. The futuristic design is eye-catching, but if you dig deeper into the design specs you will find a whole lot of fancy features.

The headphones ship with a travel bag for safe storage. All controls are located on the two earcups. You have a volume control button, a Bluetooth toggle, an NFC pairing button, a jack for plugging the 3.5mm cable, as well as an indicator light that blinks while the headphones are charging. Well, the E-7 headphones are not foldable, but this setback does not make them any less amazing.

Despite looking pretty solid, the headphones are actually super lightweight. You can wear them around your neck for hours without feeling any pain, earache or fatigue.

E-7 Bluetooth Connectivity and Charging

One of the biggest selling points of Cowin E-7 is the implemented Bluetooth feature. I am pretty sure those who travel often or they are just fed up with tripping over cables, would appreciate the convenience the E-7 offers.

If you have been using a pair of corded headphones sporting a 3-feet long cable, you will totally fall for the freedom of movement the E-7 ensure. All you need to do is to pair the headphones with your Bluetooth or mobile device and enjoy up to 30 hours of intense use. No matter if you want to use the headphones to play games or you want to listen to music on your daily commute to work, the Cowin E7 will not disappoint.

The headphones may ensure great audio quality and incredible comfort, but the truth is that their greatest advantage is also their biggest setback – it depends on the point of view. In other words, the Cowin E-7 is a wireless pair of headphones and you will have to deal with the battery charging thing.

The good news is that Cowin has done its best to make the battery charging less of a chore. The headphones possess the so-called Fast Fuel feature. If you are in a hurry, your teammates are waiting for you to get the PvP started, or you have forgotten to charge the batteries the Fast Fuel got you covered.

All you need to do is to enable the Fast Fuel feature and charge the battery for 10 minutes. Then, you will have enough juice to use the headphones for 60 minutes.

The E-7 requires a 5-hour charge to give you a 30-hour wireless usage, though. Needless to say, you can always plug the 3.5mm audio cable and turn the Cowin E-7 into corded headphones.

Cowin E-7 Headphones Sound Quality

I don’t have much to say about the sound quality. I mean, if you are an audiophile, you may have to look somewhere else. However, if you are just looking for affordable, good quality, versatile headphones, the E-7 is worth your attention. The model comes with 40mm ear-cup aperture drivers that convey an extended audio frequency range. You will enjoy clear, sharp sounds, concise bass, and amazing sound output.

E-7 Noise Cancelling Feature

Apart from the Bluetooth connectivity, the other huge selling point of the headphones is the outstanding noise canceling function. If you want to switch off the world and sense the immersive atmosphere of your favorite shooter, or you want to listen to music when you walk across the busiest street in town, the noise canceling feature is a godsend. The Cowin E-7 enables you to hear only the music/ gunfire in Titanfall 2 and nothing else. Neither the noisy neighbors nor the passing vehicles will bother you.

To ensure utmost protection against irritating environmental noises, you have to activate the noise canceling function. There is a special switch on the headphones that automatically shuts out the noise coming from outside so that you can focus solely on your game or favorite song.

Cowin E-7 Microphone

The Cowin E-7 comes with an in-built microphone. A friend of mine, who is making his first attempts as a streamer uses the E-7 and he confirmed that the headphones do a good job. Still, I would not recommend the E-7 to streamers or YouTubers. I would define the microphone quality as adequate for Skype conversations, but if you plan to use the headphones for LAN parties or TeamSpeak conversations, the microphone quality may not live up to your expectations. However,  the Turtle Beach Recon 50x  headset might be of interest to you. It has a better quality mic and carries a pretty reasonable price tag. Bear in mind that the headset is strictly corded, though.

Are Cowin E-7 Bluetooth Headphones Worth the Purchase?

Cowin E-7 do not fall into the gaming headphones category or the category of devices suitable mainly for listening to music. No matter if you are a gamer, an audio enthusiast or you just need a pair of good headphones to kill the time while you are traveling, the E-7 is a great option. To wrap up, I highly recommend them as an inexpensive, high-quality alternative to the models that cost three times more.
