Build and Design

Black has a certain charm, and the E9 headphones obviously seek that effect. The build quality is also very impressive. They are solid and will pass for premium set.

If portability is a must for you, then knowing they are foldable will earn plus points. The over-ear design is not for everyone. You’d be either a fan or a critic.

Overall, the headphones rest on your head well without making you feel awkward pressure.

Headband

The headband is padded and quite soft. It doesn’t bring unwanted pain after extended use, and that is so nice, that it deserves a big red check in your list.

In terms of visual appeal, the E9 it is not exactly subtle. It is just physically big for me. To your advantage, I could testify that wearing them they didn’t feel annoying or heavy. With a weight of 9 ounces and looking huge, I still couldn’t say that they are excessively heavy.

Ear Cups and Controls

The material used in the ear cups is soft and very comfy leather. I did notice that my ears tend to get a bit sweaty after about an hour use. Don’t worry because airing them for a while will combat this issue. For my travel-loving readers, you can swivel and collapse the ear cups inwards to make them easy to pack.

The controls are on the ear cups. Buttons are responsive and tactile. It takes time to get familiar with the button functions.

Connectivity

The E9 are wireless headphones. Drained or dead battery could be dealt with by plugging the headphones directly to your device. Then you can still enjoy music.

Connectivity-wise, the Bluetooth is just 4.0. It might be old, but it is still very responsive. There is no static or jitter during use.

Sound Quality

They have equipped the Mixcder E9 with 40mm drivers. That’s enough to produce some good bass and do justice to my EDM playlist.

Low, mid and high frequencies are not sharply distinguishable. Not a glaring issue, but audio-sensitive souls might have a thing to say here. The E9 might not be the most accurate in audio or be perfect pair, but the service they provide is on par with mid-range selections.

Noise-Cancelling

The noise cancelling function works for low-frequency sounds like AC hums. Although noise is reduced, it is not cancelled completely. When you are out in the street you will still be able to pick up loud noises.

Call Quality

The E9 is functional in both ways (wired/wireless). Note that the microphone is unusable when in wired mode. During testing, the other party said that I sounded muffled, though she could still understand me. It seems that calls are not the best use for the E9.

Battery Life

Fully charging the E9 will take you about two and a half hours. The battery will last you for about 30 hours. That is very impressive. If you don’t have enough time to charge, then using the 30 minutes fast charge will give you 10 hours of play time.

Final Verdict

The Mixcder E9’s battery life is one of its best features along with the related quick charge ability. They’re also satisfactory in terms of audio performance. When it comes to portability, I think that they’ll be great for traveling, especially if you want some quality time with your music during vacations.

The E9 is a charming headphone with decent ANC performance and considering the price, it definitely deserves attention.
