Logitech keeps pushing the boundaries with its new G Pro Wireless gaming mouse. This lag-proof little beast weights as much as 80 grams and could rival any of its wired high-end siblings. Logitech spent over two years working on this product in collaboration with the biggest names in esports professional gaming. The result of this partnership is nothing short of a phenomenal piece of hardware in an ambidextrous lightweight body.
The first thing that strikes about this product is its weight. By managing not only to trim down the weight of the mouse but also to increase significantly battery life, the guys from Logitech Labs have achieved something spectacular. The mouse houses a smaller battery that can keep you going for more than 40 hours with the RGB lights on, and over 60 hours with them off. This has been achieved through the new HERO16K sensor which proves to be a lot more power efficient than the previous generation. Logitech claims that the new sensor is also its most accurate yet.

Design and Ergonomics
The design of the Logitech G Pro wireless gaming mouse is simple yet sophisticated. The G Pro Wireless construction includes an endoskeleton which helps reduce the overall product weight to the impressive 80 grams. Even though the walls of the mouse are made of 1mm ultrathin plastic layer, the product still feels sturdy and somewhat premium. There is no flex when using the mouse. The curvy design makes this product comfortable in either a palm or claw grip.
Programmable buttons
On each of the sides, there are two programmable removable side buttons that magnetically attach and require no effort at all to swap. This makes the product truly ambidextrous. The RGB lighting for the G logo and the three DPI indicating dots on the palm rest are fully customizable. The clickable scroll wheel feels solid. The main two buttons come with Logitech`s mechanical tensioning system. Logitech claims that they are designed to last over 50 million clicks. This should keep you going for more than 10,000 hours of non-stop intense gaming. However, once you get your hands on the product, you would need a few years or so to put this bold claim to a test.
DPI and Power Buttons
Unlike any other Logitech gaming mouse, the DPI button of this one is located on the bottom. This easily prevents any accidental clicks, however, it doesn’t make your intentional ones easy either. For players who often switch their DPI during gameplay, this may come as a downside.
As opposed to the DPI button, the power button of the G Pro Wireless is right where you would expect it to be – on the bottom side of the mouse. Underside there is also a small slot that allows you to store the G Pro Wireless Dongle or the Logitech Powerplay battery.To use the Powerplay battery though, you would need to acquire the Powerplay mouse pad.
G Pro HERO 16K Sensor Performance
Logitech`s HERO 16K sensor is arguably the best sensor on the market. However, 16,000 DPI still sounds like an overkill. You would not be able to notice any difference in terms of performance between the old gen HERO 12K model and the new one unless you have some truly superhuman abilities.
On the other hand, what we do notice in the new model is its power efficiency which Logitech claims to be 10 times better than the previous generation. The sensor comes with a brand-new architecture, new firmware, and new lenses. More importantly, the mouse works smoothly without any signs of latency or any other issues. It is super agile even with the power cord on. As a matter of fact, during my tests, I was able to confirm that the response time of this little monster is as fast as the one of its wired counterparts. Logitech Gaming Software allows you to fully customize the buttons. G-Shift essentially doubles the functions on the mouse and makes it a great choice if you are a fan of MMOs.
Battery Life
The battery life of the G Pro Wireless is among the things that really make this product so good. Logitech has not only reduced the size of the battery but has also managed to double the battery life. The mouse can run for over 40 hours on a single charge with the RGB lights on. If you decide to turn those off, you will get a little over 60 hours making the mouse a true athlete in its class. Standby time is also great. The mouse loses only 1% of the battery charge overnight while idle.
Emergency refuel, during gameplay, can be done via the 1.5m cable that comes in the box. Five minutes of charge time would give you roughly around 10% battery juice. This should be enough to get you through the next four hours of play time.
The Powerplay battery feature requires a Powerplay mouse pad. While this could be a great upgrade it is also a costly one. The magnetic mouse pad doesn’t necessarily justify its price tag and it will cost you almost as much as the mouse itself.
Our Verdict
The G Pro Wireless is one very impressive mouse. Probably even one of the best you can buy on the market. There are many products out there that have some of the features of the G Pro Wireless. What makes this piece of hardware unique is combining all those features in one single product – ultra lightweight, design, killer features, and amazing battery life. That package comes with a high price tag. If you are on a tight budget, you might want to examine some of its cheaper alternatives G703 and G603. If money is no object for you, then this is a mouse worth considering. Even at the price of about $150 the G Pro Wireless is worth every penny.
