Active Noise Canceling and Decent Sound on a Budget

Headsets with ANC (active noise canceling) feature are no longer a rare find. With all the options the market has to offer, singling out the device most suitable for you could be hard.

The right pair of headphones should have presentable ANC and audio. It should also not leave your wallet in despair. If this is relatable, then the Mixcder E7 might intrigue you.

These headphones, though not in the same league with audio giants, deliver decent audio for music lovers who want a tranquil space to binge music.

  • Unrivaled Flexibility -- Equipped with adjustable headband, 90° swiveling ear cups and soft ear cushion
  • Extended Playtime -- You can enjoy your music world without distractions for 20-hour playtime at Bluetooth mode upon 2-hour full charge

Build and design

The Mixcder E7 looks first-class with its black and silver motif. The set is light at only 9.4 ounces, and your head won’t really register the weight.

Soft Padded Headband

The headband is retro-fitted in synthetic leather, and a snug unit which is easy on my head. It is pleasantly padded for comfort.

If you are unsure about the size and fit, these headphones are adjustable, so no concerns here.

The ‘metallic’ arms are not metal but plastic, like the rest of the set. They look sturdy, but the material is not something I’m fond of.

Adjustable Ear Cups

The ear cups are rotatable to secure good on-ear fit. In terms of build quality, the ear cups are well-padded with nice soft foam. The material covering the ear cups gets hot when in contact with the skin for longer periods, and some users may sweat around the ears.

Easy to Use Controls

The controls are simple to navigate. On the right side, you can see the built-in microphone. The power button, which serves for pairing is also here. Next to them are the previous/next track buttons, functioning also as volume buttons, the LED power indicator, and the micro USB slot for charging. On the left side, you can spot the noise canceling LED indicator, and the ANC switch.

Bluetooth or Wired Connectivity?

Pairing this headset, I encountered no issues. The connection between the Mixcder E7 and my phone was stable.

If you run out of battery, you can still listen to your favorite playlist by using the 3.5mm cable provided and connect directly to your device.

How Good is the Active Noise Canceling?

The Mixcder E7active noise canceling is surprisingly good for the price, but if you are expecting Bose’s QC35 noise canceling level, then you will be disappointed.

It won’t envelop you to a total isolation cocoon, but unwanted noises of random chattering are toned down. I also liked that the ANC function works even in wired mode.

Sound Quality – Highs, Mids, and Lows

The 40mm drivers of the Mixcder E7 produce good bass. The highs and the mids are distinct, while tones are defined and not muffled. I notice no jitter or breaking of audio.

E7 Call quality

The Mixcder E7 supports hands-free calling. I answered a call to test it, and I heard the other party clearly. However, they said my voice sounded distant. Aside from this minor issue, no static or interference occurred for the call duration.

Note that if you are in wired mode, the microphone won’t work.

Mixcder E7 Battery life

I’m quite impressed by the battery life of the Mixcder E7. It has a built-in 400mAh battery and can sustain your music demand for up to 24 hrs. If you run out of juice, 2 hrs of charging will bring back these headphones back to life.

Final verdict

The Mixcder E7 will get you the basic active noise canceling feature, long battery life, wireless capability, and audio that will satisfy you without slicing your paycheck. If you want total noise-canceling then expect no miracles from this device, it simply performs up to its price range.
