At 370g\nit&#8217;s not too heavy, so comfort for long hours is assured. I&#8217;m glad that it is\nnot an overly stylish headset, and it looks a bit closer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/turtle-beach-stealth-600-review\/\">Turtle\nBeach Stealth 600<\/a> in terms of quiet grace. Could be due to snapping or any other mishaps. Good thing that\nthe Elite 800X&#8217;s headband is one of the most solid I&#8217;ve tried. However, I\nnoticed that it can fit me too snuggly and I feel some pressure on the side of\nmy head. Thankfully, the memory foam covering the headphones does provide some\ncushioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Ear_Cups_And_Controls\">Ear Cups And Controls<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/turtle-beach-ear-force-elite-800x-earcup-cover-300x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/turtle-beach-ear-force-elite-800x-earcup-cover-300x300-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/turtle-beach-ear-force-elite-800x-earcup-cover-300x300-1-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The ear cups, like the headband, are padded with memory\nfoam. They are also covered in soft synthetic leather. Not exactly breathable,\nbut they won&#8217;t get too warm even after prolonged usage. In fact it&#8217;s just the\nopposite &#8211; they are amazingly luxurious and provide exceptional comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The controls of the Elite 800X can be found in the ear cups.\nIt is a rocker-style switch that moves in four different directions, making\neight buttons in total. It\u2019s a lot to take in during the first few days with\nthis headset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem with these buttons, however, is not their\npositioning but they&#8217;re being so sensitive. If you are someone who likes\nresting your head against anything, the chances of accidentally changing a\nsetting, are high. Another unfavorable scenario would be towing the headset\naway, thus creating a possibility of inadvertent multiple button pressing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Sound_And_Performance\">Sound And Performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The button concerns with the Turtle Beach Elite 800X can be\nconsidered weakness in the design. But this set absolutely shines in the audio\nperformance department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not an exaggeration when I tell you that it is one of\nthe best sounding gaming headsets on the market. So amazing that it even graced\nour list of best-sounding 7.1 surround headsets. The Elite 800X is armed with\near-shattering volume levels, richness in detail, and thrilling bass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The volume range of the Elite 800X is insane. The bass and\nrichness of its audio performance are amazing, and you&#8217;ll find your ears more\nthan saturated with \u2018epicness\u2019 if you love immersing yourself in video games\nmusic. Just take it easy with the volume levels &#8211; you may harm your hearing if\nyou&#8217;re over-zealous with that volume rocker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the game tests with the Elite 800X, I loved how the\npresets can magnify immersive capabilities. You can adjust the audio for\nhorror, for example, if you want Outlast 2 to be even more nerve-racking. Pre-set\nfor racing is also available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are from the competitive FPS camp and want to\nemphasize the sounds of gunfire and footsteps, then the Elite 800X got you\ncovered. And that&#8217;s not all. If you want to take it to the next level of\ncustomization, you can download game-specific pre-sets. You will be thrilled to\nknow that Turtle Beach has collaborated with some of the major developers to\ntailor the experience for several games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though this headset is best suited for gaming, movies and\nmusic are great too. This is because Turtle Beach has created specific audio\npresets for different types of media. Very convenient when you are taking a\nbreak with some Netflix after dying for the 100th time in Dark Souls 3. The\nrich bass and crisp highs, and mid ranges will add a new dimension to your\npersonal playlists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you did opt to bring this outside for music binging or\nwhatever purpose, then you will be delighted to know that the Elite 800X offers\nactive noise cancellation. This feature, though it cannot compete in high-end\nheadphones that focus on ANC, still does a pretty good job in blocking external\nnoise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Microphone\">Microphone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Elite 800X&#8217; built-in microphone is decent but not as\ngreat as the other Turtle Beach\u2019s headsets that are fitted with a dedicated\nboom mic. The Elite 800X&#8217; microphone is tucked away in the headset itself. I\nnoticed that my voice was not that clear. So, if you want <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/best-microphones-for-streaming\/\">a better microphone for\nstreaming, <\/a>or just for chatting with friends, then I suggest you invested\nin a separate unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Software_And_Connectivity\">Software And Connectivity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an Xbox One headset, but PC gamers can still use the\nElite 800X with some adjustments. There are three ways to do it. You can connect\nthe Elite 800X by using the optical output; however, this method will leave the\nmic useless. Another way is to connect the transmitter\u2019s wireless USB to the\nPC, then pair it wirelessly using Bluetooth. Also, you can just pair the\nheadset with your PC if it&#8217;s already Bluetooth ready, this method will make the\nmicrophone usable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connectivity-wise, the wireless range from the transmitter\nis great. I noticed no lags or disruptions during use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can load preset audio settings for individual games\nusing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turtlebeach.com\/pages\/audio-hub\">Turtle Beach\u2019s Ear\nForce Audio Hub <\/a>software. If you are someone like me whose desk is covered in\ngadgets, peripherals, and other knick-knacks, yet value organizing, the\ncharging dock is heaven-sent. Why? Because it fits neatly on top of the Xbox\nOne beside the main vent and used on PC, it will take a small space on the\nside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The battery life is decent at 10 hours of playtime. Although\nit might be inadequate for some marathoners, I suppose that 10 hours will\nsuffice for most mortals. I also like how the headset snaps into place and\ninforms you when it&#8217;s charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Comparison_Table\">Comparison Table<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Final_Verdict\">Final Verdict<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Turtle Beach Elite 800X unquestionably captures the\nfundamentals of an excellent headset design. It is not flashy, yet exudes\nsophisticated gamer vibes. We all know how hard it is to check all the boxes when\nbuying gaming headsets. There is sound quality, comfort, and extra features to\nconsider, and this one checks them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall the Elite 800X does its job well. It is compact,\naesthetically pleasing, and sounds good.
