Either way, the number of buttons is an important requirement and a major field in your&nbsp;checklist&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/gaming-mouse-buyers-guide-infographic\/\" target=\"_blank\">factors in buying a gaming mouse.&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Say, you answered &#8216;MMO&#8217;. This genre is played better off with more buttons, but then you have to consider the possibility of cluttered peripheral. In fact, it could be worse than something overly conservative. With its muted grey and black accents, it is unmistakably a high-end looking mouse. Though it seems that ROCCAT has been busy with buttons, the simple two-tone design and preference for soft contours is a perfect match-up. You will also like how the ROCCAT logo manages to blend well, and not stand out&nbsp;in an annoying manner. Something that I admire, much like how Logitech manages to control their branding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"255\" src=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ergonomics-and-design.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4923\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ergonomics-and-design.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ergonomics-and-design-300x100.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Tyon&#8217;s&nbsp;overall contouring is extremely solid. Clearly, this is not an ambidextrous mouse, but the sloped shape is conducive to both palm and claw grippers. The height in the center&nbsp;is sufficient and&nbsp;offers&nbsp;good palm&nbsp;support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The texture of the main body is not as soft as I would like. The black sides aren\u2019t furnished with soft-touch plastic or rubber. Instead, they opted for a hard, rough finish. It is also not that grippy and doesn\u2019t feel as refined as other gaming mice on&nbsp;the market. There&nbsp;are&nbsp;two&nbsp;color&nbsp;variations of this mouse&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;black and&nbsp;white.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Balancenbsp;and_Weightnbsp;\">Balance&nbsp;and Weight&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The ROCCAT Tyon is not that big,&nbsp;nor too small.&nbsp;It will suit&nbsp;medium-sized hands. With&nbsp;dimensions of 4.5cm X 8.0cm X 12.6cm, it will fit most gamers. The weight is something to&nbsp;consider,&nbsp;though. Its 128g weight might be cumbersome to FPS players, but then again this is more of a preference&nbsp;thing. I do wish that they included some kind of weight customization like the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/logitech-g403-prodigy-review\/\" target=\"_blank\">Logitech G403 Prodigy&nbsp;<\/a>to combat this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Featuresnbsp;and_Performancenbsp;\">Features&nbsp;and Performance&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ROCCAT Tyon is equipped with the Pro-Aim Laser Sensor R3. It has up to 8,200dpi, a 1000Hz polling rate,&nbsp;and a 1ms response time. With these specs it is really geared to perform well on different genres, not to mention it&#8217;s 14 button schemes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ROCCAT claims that the Tyon is the next evolution in combat gaming peripherals. For real. It is easy to assume that it is just another high-end gaming mouse with loads of buttons. This is&nbsp;impressive given&nbsp;the seemingly ridiculous number. Like the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/roccat-leadr\/\" target=\"_blank\">ROCCAT&nbsp;Leadr<\/a>,&nbsp;it sports 14 buttons,&nbsp;fortunately,&nbsp;they built it in a way&nbsp;to make&nbsp;every button distinct and accessible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main buttons offer the first-class response. They&nbsp;are sandwiched&nbsp;between&nbsp;two&nbsp;button sections, I never experienced&nbsp;any misclicks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scroll wheel is lightweight, covered in fine, thick,&nbsp;and&nbsp;grippy&nbsp;rubber finish with sharp notches. It&nbsp;will also&nbsp;demand&nbsp;no extra effort to tap for a middle click.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are back and forward buttons that are positioned right under the thumb.&nbsp;They are strategically placed to deter accidental clicks and still allow easy access.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dorsal Fin-Switch is a two-way button that can be controlled without having to adjust your hand during crucial moments. It is especially useful when playing Overwatch, you can use skills and items on the fly without adjusting your grip.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another button is the ROCCAT\u00ae EASY-SHIFT [+] \u2122 or the button duplicator technology. It is great for allotting buttons for switching profiles&nbsp;or just adding extra functions like a melee attack in Call of Duty. It\u2019s also very convenient for normal tasks like shortcuts for Photoshop or Microsoft apps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The X-Celerator&nbsp;is a single-axis analog thumb paddle that is designed for your convenience. During testing, I noticed that I can tilt left and right, pitch up and down, increase and decrease throttle while maintaining control.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also extra buttons that can be found on the right side of the right-click. You will find it useful for designating functions such as tossing a grenade, reloading or changing weapons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Sensorsnbsp;and_Gamingnbsp;\">Sensors&nbsp;and Gaming&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the hood, the ROCCAT Tyon is powered by the Pro-Aim Laser Sensor R3. According to ROCCAT the Tyon is ideal for FPS and MMO gaming. Confirmed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My PUBG experience was seamless,&nbsp;thanks to&nbsp;the&nbsp;easy maneuvering and extra button functions. The 1000Hz polling rate and 1ms response time were evident and my performance&nbsp;improved.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reassigning commands to the Tyon resulted in a better gaming session with Elder Scroll Online. As for overall tracking performance, I found it impeccable. It did not disappoint, as I never experienced lag or any unintended acceleration which is fatal in competitive gaming.&nbsp;I also checked if it will fare well as a&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.realgear.net\/best-moba-mice\/\" target=\"_blank\">MOBA mouse.<\/a>&nbsp;Surprisingly those extra buttons came handy during my DOTA 2 matches; I transferred some hotkey combos to them. Profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Connectivitynbsp;\">Connectivity&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, wireless junkies, this is a wired mouse. It came with a 1.8m braided USB cable. It is firm enough to be called heavy duty and soft enough to maneuver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Softwarenbsp;and_Lightingnbsp;\">Software&nbsp;and Lighting&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Assigning new functions to&nbsp;ROCCAT&nbsp;Tyon&nbsp;buttons can be done&nbsp;via&nbsp;the&nbsp;ROCCAT&nbsp;Talk FX software. There are options for each button and a recorder for programming macro commands. They also added an extensive pre-configured option for some popular games.&nbsp;If you want&nbsp;personalization, you have&nbsp;the 576kB onboard memory&nbsp;at your disposal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With so many customization options I feel kind of overwhelmed. The software is not exactly user-friendly and will take some time to get used to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This mouse&nbsp;has a 16.8M multicolor illumination.&nbsp;I find the&nbsp;RGB quite pretty. Not overblown but still flashy enough to exude gamer vibes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Final_Verdictnbsp;\">Final Verdict&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;ROCCAT&nbsp;Tyon&nbsp;is an ideal choice for both casual and competitive players. This is a heavy gaming-grade piece of equipment with a ton of additional buttons and features to make&nbsp;your gaming&nbsp;experience better. It is suitable for both fast and slow-paced games&nbsp;and can adjust to your requirements.
