Corsair is among the major participants at Computex 2017, currently held in Taipei, Taiwan. The company introduced a number of new peripherals, but one of the most innovative products was the Concept Zeus mouse and mousepad. What makes it so noteworthy is that it is suitable for both gamers and non-gamers.
The Concept Zeus mousepad is designed to solve one of the main issues regarding wireless gaming mice. It is a well-known fact that many gamers shy away from using wireless devices not only because of eventual lagging but also because they want to save themselves the battery charging chore.
The pad will feature a Qi wireless charging spot and apart from mice, it will allow users to charge mobile devices that support the Qi standard. Users will never have to worry about charging their wireless mice. When the device is placed on the mousepad, it goes into a constant charging mode.
Although the Concept Zeus is in its early stages, Corsair plans on making the entire mousepad a wireless charging surface. The mousepad is wired, though; it will possess two USB slots, but the mouse itself will be wireless.
The receiver will be located on the mouse’s palm rest. To charge it, users will have to put the mouse on a little circle on the mousepad. Charging via a detachable cable will also be possible. Although the information about the project is too scarce, people with knowledge of the matter suggest that Corsair will incorporate a technology, allowing a 36-hour of continuous usage in a single charge.
The other technical specifications of the mouse are yet to be finalized. Corsair representatives seem reluctant to provide additional details concerning the sensor, the weight, and the number of buttons.
Time will tell whether this will be a featherlight mouse for first person shooters, or it will be a massive device, possessing a sufficient number of buttons for MMOs. Customers expect Corsair to make it possible to use the charging mousepad with mice, crafted by other manufacturers.
The release date of the Zeus Concept is set for an unspecified point in future, but the products have already caught gamers’ attention. E-sports industry analysts predict that if Corsair manages to find the happy medium between weight, advanced options, price and wireless charging capabilities, the Concept has all chances of becoming one of company’s bestsellers.
