COUGAR announced the international launch of two new peripherals in its portfolio – the Minos X5 and the Revenger S FPS gaming mice. The two devices are almost identical in terms of technical characteristics but the shape sets them apart as they are designed to meet the requirements of users with different grip styles.
The Minos X5 and the Revenger S feature a PixArt PMW3360 optical sensor and a 12,000 max DPI. What makes them stand out from the other FPS mice is the 2000Hz polling rate. The 2000Hz refresh rate sends updated input data twice as fast as most gaming mice. Therefore, gamers are enabled to react twice as fast as their opponents who use a mouse featuring a max polling rate of 1000Hz.
The two mice also come with 250 IPS, 50G acceleration, 512 KB onboard memory, as well as 2 zone RGB, LED color options.
The exact dimensions of the Revenger S are 130(L) X 65(W) X 43(H) mm / 5.11 (L) X 2.55 (W) X 1.69 (H) inches. The mouse is corded and suitable for right-handed palm grippers. The silver space on the right side serves as a ring finger rest. Its weight is 94 grams (3.31oz). The rubberized coating along the sides ensures a better grip.
The Minos X5 measures 120(L) X 65(W) X 38(H) mm / 4.72 (L) X 2.55 (W) X 1.49 (H) inches and weighs 88 grams (3.1oz). It would have been an ambidextrous mouse if there were not thumb buttons on the left side. Similar to the Revenger S, the Minox X5 has a rubberized coating, RGB LEDs, as well as a DPI button. According to Lio Huang, COUGAR’s Brand Director, the Minos X5 is an ideal solution for fingertip gamers. Both mice would meet the needs of claw grippers, though.
Mr. Huang was quoted as saying that the release of the two mice was preceded by “hundreds of online matches” played against “randomized opponents”. COUGAR designers evaluated how the mouse shape affects the performance and adjusted the Minos X5 and the Revenger S design accordingly. In conclusion, Mr. Huang said that the Revenger S and Minos X5 are “the points in which there was no substantial performance improvement to be made.”
