Logitech announced that it will launch two gaming mice from the G series – G703, and G903. The company has also introduced the innovative Powerplay mousepad that works as a charging dock for the wireless mice.
As a matter of fact, the new gaming mice are modified versions of the well known G900 and G402 models. What makes the new gaming mice different from their predecessors is the availability of a chamber located on the bottom. If the G903 and the G703 are used without the Powerplay mousepad, the chamber can be used for optional weights.
In terms of technical features, G703 and G903 do not differ significantly from one another. They both come with a 1ms response rate and feature a PMW3366 optical sensor offering a max DPI of 12,000. They can be charged via the USB cable, too.
Both mice feature magnetized weights. They can be replaced with a Logitech Powercore, so that owners can use the devices with the new Powerplay mousepad. Logitech G703 and G903 will be compatible with Windows 7 or later, and Mac OS X 10.8 or later.
As for the mousepad, it charges the mouse while it is in use. Players will never have to worry about a drained battery. Although various sources suggest that Logitech will use the open Qi wireless charging standard, the company has not specified that in the published press release. The mousepad will support Windows 7 or later.
The Powerplay mousepad will be available August. Its price will be $99. As for the G903 and G703 gaming mice, they will be rolled out no later than the end of June. They will cost $150 and $100, respectively.
Mousepads allowing wireless charging, are expected to become a norm in the e-sports gaming gear industry. Two weeks ago, Corsair introduced the Concept Zeus, expected to hit the shelves by the beginning of 2018 at the latest. According to e-sports industry analysts, Razer and SteelSeries will soon follow suit and unleash gaming peripherals with a similar concept.
