The Swedish manufacturer of gaming gear Mionix announced that it is to launch a new keyboard. The Mionix Wei is the first RGB LED keyboard in company’s portfolio.

The Mionix Wei keyboard is equipped with Cherry MX Red switches. The keycaps are made of a low-profile aluminum plate, surrounded by a rubber base. The keycaps are swappable and every user can pick other Cherry MX mount compatible caps in different colors – Frosting (rose), French fries (yellow), or Ice Cream (powder blue).

Apart from the U.S layout, the keyboard will also have German, Nordic, Japanese, French, and UK key arrangements. The keyboard is now available for pre-order at some online retailers. However, at the time of writing the current article, the French, UK, and Japanese layouts are unavailable.

The rubber coating is added with the aim of ensuring a good grip on the desk. As for the aluminum, it ensures durability. The keyboard will be compatible with Windows and Mac OS.

As for Mionix itself, it was listed as one of the Top Biotech Companies for 2004. The company is considered one of the most renowned European manufacturers of gaming merchandise. Mionix has also released a number of gaming mice, the most notable of which is the Naos QG (short for Quantified Gaming). Soon after its release, the Naos QG was declared the most eccentric gaming mouse on the market.

What makes it different from the other gaming mice are the biometric readouts. The Naos QG possesses a heart rate sensor that emits green light when in use. The Galvanic Skin Response feature measures the electrical characteristics of the skin. The collected biometric and movement data information overlays the game.

Another notable peripheral in Mionix’ portfolio is the Zibal 60 keyboard, advertised as “rage proof”. As for the Wei keyboard, it is expected to be available at all major retailers from July 21st onwards.
