A few weeks ago, Ubisoft launched a massive update for Tom Clancy’s The Division and added a whole lot of new exciting features. Now, the developer announced that all fans of the third person shooter would be able to try the game out free this weekend.

The pre-loads in the Uplay client will be available on September 12, 6 PM CEST. PC players who decide to take advantage of the free trial will be able to start playing on September 14, 7 PM CEST. The trial closes on September 17th, 10 PM CEST. During that time, players will have access to the base game (campaign included) and the Dark Zone.

Apart from the free to play weekend, Ubisoft has yet another surprise for Tom Clansy’s The Division fans. The Standard and the Gold Edition, as well as the Season Pass, will be on sale for a limited time. In other words, those who consider purchasing the game will save up to 60%. In case players make a full purchase, the progress they made during the free trial will be transferred.

New and existing players will also be able to enjoy new content very soon. Ubisoft Massive is readying the update 1.8. The latter will bring a new PvE mode, a new PvP Skirmish mode, a West Side Pier map area, and a new social club named Camp Clinton.

It remains to be seen if the number of concurrent players will increase during the weekend. Nevertheless, the free trial weekend is a wise method for attracting new players, boosting game’s popularity and reminding those hesitating whether to purchase it that fresh content is on the way.
