Not Just a Fashion Accessory
Browsing through the vast array of new and shiny headsets on the market, I stumbled upon this peculiar looking device – the Paww SilkSound headset. The fashionista in me immediately went all “Oh my, that would go perfectly with my latest pair of exquisite gold-and-amber sunglasses!”. I already know from good experience, that whenever she raises her voice, my wallet is doomed.
But I have been recently so much fed up with bulky, ugly, and unisex headphones. So, when I read that this chick looking headset is light, wireless, and quite affordable, I couldn’t resist giving it a try. The Paww SilkSound is a nod to my fashion inclined readers, and it felt like the world also needed to find out the truth about its perks.

Build and Design
SilkSound’s slim and slender frame is lightweight at only 12.8 ounces. The dimensions of 6.3 x 4.1 x 2.2 inches make this frame easily foldable so you can stash it in your bag when not using the headphones. Design is where the Paww SilkSound Headphones is meant to feel right at home. It will draw attention looking like some extra posh tiara or a cute headband.
The thing with more fashion-oriented products is that it will get you likes but functionality might suffer, unless we’re talking ridiculous money. On-ear adjustment could be demanding. No padding and hard plastic will cause slipping, as per laws of physics. If the frame was made of some bendable material then it would probably provide snug fit.
The ear area is important and inventive designs might impair comfort.
This headset doesn’t really take up much space. I can carry it quite easily during my coffee shop escapade and when commuting. Having this on your head is like having camouflage speakers. With its wide array of choices of colors like Tortoise Shell, Blue Frost, Golden Yellow and Black Onyx anyone can be easily fooled that it is an accessory and not a sound device.
The Paww SilkSound has 3 control buttons that are positioned on the right side. The middle control is a multi-function button that you can use for power, pairing, play/pause and to answer or reject incoming calls. The topmost button is for volume up/next track, while the bottom button is for volume down/previous track.
However, I find the buttons quite difficult to press, as I need to exert additional effort. I also feel that the positioning of the buttons is not so well strategically placed. I caught myself unintentionally pressing the wrong one.
You will also find the led indicator on the right, on top of the buttons. The micro USB charging port is here, and the microphone is situated on the left side of the headset.
Testing the Paww SilkSound revealed decent sound disguised as a portable stylish accessory. Sound quality can’t really measure up to high-end headphones or audio devices. The sound is not muddy or jittery, but you can’t really experience distinctive and tight lows and mids presence is not that great.
Due to the headset not fully enclosing the ear I could still hear background noise or get alerted when spoken to. This headset is primarily targeted to individuals who would like to have background music on the fly while being stylish in the first place. The volume on max level is not too loud, though that prevents it from heavily distorting even on full blare.
The Paww SilkSound headphones feature an answer button as well as a built-in microphone, enabling hands-free calling. This is quite convenient. I answered a call while using this headset, and I could hear the person on the other side of the line well enough. The other person however, found my voice sounding somewhat distant.
The battery life of the SilkSound is quite decent at 8 hours. During my casual usage, this headset has sustained my music sustenance for a day and that is not bad for a headset in this price range.
This headset is very much inclined towards looking good while remaining functional. Sound delivered is of sufficient quality for your favorite tunes. If you want concert- and studio-level performance then it would be best to stick with traditional music headsets. If you, on the other hand, are more interested in casual listening while mix-matching outfits then the Paww SilkSound is your best friend.
