Comfort, Grip and Ease of Movement

The Mamba Elite favors right-handed users, and is designed to fit palm, fingertip or claw grip.

The guys at Razer labeled their latest design optimization “Advanced Ergonomics”. This translates into the most natural position of your hand regardless of the grip and reduces the strains and stress on your fingers by eliminating as many unnecessary finger-drag points as possible.

The premium matte black coating and the enhanced rubber side paddings are a classy touch. This adds more texture than other models and you can definitely avoid any undesired slipping. Stability is preserved even if your moves are lightning fast. Moreover, the gliding pads on the bottom of the mouse are larger and smoother than those of the older model, thus reducing the gliding resistance across your mouse mat to a minimum.

Switches and Buttons

For most of their models Razer use their proprietary mechanical switches, however, for the Mamba Elite, they have partnered with Omron as a co-developer and came up with one of the best and most durable mechanical switches in town. Adding Omron in the mix is a definite highlight. If by any chance you don’t know who Omron are, they are a big time manufacturer of all sorts of switches for various industries and have done well to earn recognition in the gaming community.

The lifespan of mouse switches is measured in clicks. Razer Mamba Elite’s switches are claimed to have a durability of up to 50 million clicks, which is a lap ahead of other companies. Even other models within Razer’s catalogue are usually somewhere between 10 and 20 million clicks, making that a considerable difference in your favor.

Buttons next. One could point out that the Mamba Elite sports 7 buttons but that would be an understatement. There are in fact 9 Hyperesponse buttons, as the scroll wheel offers a spicy innovation – you can tilt click the scroll wheel, both left and right, adding two more options. You can program their functions via the Razer’s Synapse 3 software, which also allows for saving different configurations to switch between. This mouse features onboard memory, so you can choose where to store your favorite profiles – on the mouse itself, or in the cloud.

Optical Sensor

The Razer Mamba Elite is an upgrade over the Mamba, a flagship model released back in 2015. The laser to optical sensor transition makes this particular model shine even more, compared against another newly released ambitious Mamba family member – the Tournament Edition. Laser sensors’ issues with textile textured mouse mats are well known, and that is naturally reflected in the competitive gaming market, making the optical ones more popular.

The Mamba Elite is a manifestation of the 5G Advanced Optical Sensor. This is one of Razer’s hottest technologies already implemented in another of the company’s leading models – the Deathadder Elite. It is famous for being one of the best optical sensors available out there, providing true 16,000 DPI (dots per inch), 99.4% resolution accuracy, and tracking speed of 450 inches per second.

Should your mouse movements and tracking be shaky and less precise, you may need to calibrate your mouse to the mat. This function is available in the software. Normally, the default setting will align with most mouse mats but an occasional calibration might be needed to achieve the highest possible performance.

Customization and RGB Lighting

Light is strong with this one. With a total of 20 lighting zones in the scroll wheel, top logo and curves on both sides this is a mouse that will not easily be overshadowed. In-game lighting alerts, animated effects and all sorts of customizations are available via the Synapse 3.0 software and are individually programmable with the Chroma Studio. Out of the box lighting modes offered are Spectrum Cycling, Breathing, Static, Reactive and Wave.

What’s in The Box?

You will be exited to receive and unbox it, of course. However, a seasoned warrior should not expect ribbons and flare, alright. Simplicity is king and your Razer Mamba Elite Gaming Mouse travels and reaches its destination accompanied by an instruction manual, a warranty card, and the occasional Razer-branded stickers.

Our Verdict

The Razer Mamba Elite stands up to its name. It’s venomous and easily in the big boys’ league. Your setup will get all the wows and your gameplay will enjoy an increased speed and accuracy. Kill them all.
