Epic Games released Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode across all platforms on September 26. Expectations were that the sandbox survival title would attract a lot of curious players and it seems these expectations have been met. Fortnite representatives shared that the game has reached a significant milestone over 24 hours and attracted more than 1 million players. The tweet, accompanied by the picture below, reads: “Over 1 million players have partied on the Battle Bus during the first day of Battle Royale! Thank you and party on!”
Fortnite has recently made the headlines as the developer Epic Games ran into a controversy with PUBG’s developer Bluehole Studio over the uncanny similarities of the Battle Royale mode. Although there is no telling what course of action Bluehole will take, Fortnite has all chances of luring PUBG players willing to know what is the fuss all about, to say the least.
The biggest advantage of the Fortnite is that it is free to play across all platforms. On the other hand, the PUBG is a paid title, and it is available on PC only with an Xbox One version currently in the works. To a great extent, this explains why the Bluehole is trying its best to protect its investment.
Still, PUBG remains well-ahead of Fortnite. As RealGear reported, the Early Access title has recently surpassed the 1,5 million concurrent users mark on Steam. However, Fortnite’s 100-player PvP mode might catch up to PUBG pretty soon.
Fortnite Battle Royale is available to download for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Players are not required to purchase a Fortnite founders pack to get immediate access.
