Mere days before the start of the IFA event, Logitech has introduced three new additions to its G series line-up. The company unveiled the G603 Lightspeed wireless mouse, the G613 Lightspeed wireless mechanical gaming keyboard as well as the G840 XL gaming mouse pad.
G603 Lightspeed Wireless Mouse
What makes the G603 different from the other peripherals in the G-series is the optical sensor called HERO (High Efficiency Rating Optical). To be able to unleash such an innovative product, Logitech has entered into a partnership with a Swiss company.
The HERO sensors are ten times more powerful than the 3366 ones and they are said to perform four times better than the M010 and M000 sensors. One of the most important features of HERO is its capacity to update its firmware indefinitely whenever Logitech adds new features or makes optimizations,
The G603 offers up to 12,000 DPI sensitivity and a battery life of 21 days. It can also run without batteries, which is a nice feature for players looking for a lightweight mouse. Neither the left nor the right button has pretravel. The G603 uses Omron switches. The switch control can be set to Hi, Lo, and Off, respectively.
G613 Lightspeed Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
The G613 also uses the Lightspeed technology. According to Logitech’s announcement, the keyboard can run up to 18 months on two AA batteries. However, the LED lighting reduced the battery life to approximately 40 hours.
Due to battery concerns, Logitech has dropped the RGB backlighting. The G613 possesses media keys, a gaming mode switch, programmable G keys, a volume rocker, as well as buttons for Lightspeed and Bluetooth operating modes. The Lightspeed mode connects directly to the included USB dongle. The Bluetooth mode can remember up to 10 devices. The keyboard comes with six programmable keys and Romer-G mechanical switches.
G840 Extra Large Mouse Pad
Last but not least, Logitech has announced the G840 Extra Large mouse pad. Essentially, this mouse pad is almost the size of a table. Logitech defines the mouse, keyboard and the mouse pad bundle as the “next-generation wireless desktop”.
Logitech has not specified a release date of the new peripherals. Still, the G603 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse will be released sometime in September at a retail price of $69.99. The G613 Lightspeed Wireless Mechanical Keyboard is expected to hit the shelves in the next couple of days. It arrives with a $149.99 price tag. As for the G840 mouse pad, it will cost $49.99 with a planned September release.
