Bungie is currently making the headlines with the much-anticipated Destiny 2 release and it decided to use its popularity to contribute to a meaningful cause. A few hours ago, Bungie announced that it has joined forces with the non-profit organization Direct Relief.

Bungie is offering a special pin with a Destiny 2 emblem that can be purchased via the Bungie Store for $15. The amount generated through sales will go to Direct Relief in support of Houston residents, affected by the Harvey disaster.

The pin features three red hearts with a silvery metal border. The emblem design is similar but the background is blue. When on full display, the blue in-game background is speckled with different Destiny symbols.

The Bungie Foundation is developer’s official charity. It has been closely working with Direct Relief and other organizations for supporting different charitable causes. Back in June Destiny Twitch community donated a substantial amount of money to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As for Bungie’s partnership with Direct Relief, the two organizations joined forces in 2015 when the major earthquake in Nepal occurred. Back then, the video game developer unleashed a special Destiny-themed T-shirt and managed to raise more than $1 million to help the affected Nepalese citizens.

Hopefully, Bungie and Direct Relief will achieve the same success with the fundraising mission for Houston. The Bungie team released a statement, encouraging Destiny fans to contribute to “making the world a better place”. The developer emphasized that even those who are not interested in purchasing the pin can find their own way to help those, affected by the natural calamity that has loomed over Texas.

The pins are now available for purchase via the Bungie Store. The Bungie team revealed that the supplies are limited and warned against eventual order delays.

Destiny 2 will be launched on September 6th on PS4 and Xbox One. Its PC release is scheduled for October 24th.
