Earlier today, Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene revealed via Twitter that the BattlEye has detected at least 50,000 cheaters so far.
Every player who attempts to cheat or hack to gain an unfair advantage is at risk of being banned. The BattlEye detects players who use cheats such as aim or wall hacks and bans them before they get a chance to use them in the game. If an ill-intentioned player manages to sneak behind the automated system, PUBG players can use the Report button that has been recently implemented.
Two months ago, Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene announced that the number of banned PUBG players went beyond 25,000 from April through June. Back then, Brendan Greene also announced that the BattlEye is constantly being upgraded and polished to detect cheaters more effectively.
It seems that there has been a rapid increase of cheaters since then, but according to people familiar with the matter, that dramatic increase makes sense. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been recently recognized as the third highest peak player count in Steam history. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that a certain percentage of the players would try to make the playing field uneven by using dishonest methods.
Last month, PUBG announced that it has updated its system for reporting cheaters and griefers. Players were informed that they would be able to fill out a form on the PUBG forums against players suspected of cheating, hacking, teaming in solo matches, team killing, stream-sniping. PUBG also enforced rules against foul language, discriminatory language, threats of real-life violence, etc.
Cheating and banning have been a hot topic among PUBG gaming communities over the last couple of months. Bluehole Studio has introduced the necessary changes and made it clear that rules have to be obeyed by everyone, including the most popular Twitch streamers.
