According to information, published via the official Twitter account of Steam Spy, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has managed to lure players who used to play another shooter prior to PUBG’s arrival.
Estimates reveal that Counter Strike: Global Offensive is among the most severely affected by PUBG’s launch games. The Steam Spy data tracker shows that 55% of all players who engage in PUBG also play CS:GO. However, their CS:GO playtime has seen a dramatic 30% drop since they bought PUBG.
It is no secret that the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can take pride in having a loyal community. Nevertheless, the strong interest in PUBG comes to confirm that the game is not just a fad.
According to Steam Spy, PUBG’s popularity had a negative effect on the playtime of Left 4 Dead, H1Z1: King of the Kill, and Payday 2, too.
Statistics also reveal that the majority of PUBG players are based in Germany, China, and the US. Currently, the Chinese e-sports sector is experiencing its revival; the number of China-based players is also impressive, which explains PUBG’s rapid growth over the last few months.
PUBG developer, Bluehole announced that it would join forces with Microsoft to bring the shooter to Xbox One. PUBG’s compatibility with consoles will undoubtedly have a positive impact on its popularity, not to mention the substantial revenues the game is expected to generate.
Meanwhile, the first PUBG Invitational was held during the GamesCom. Evermore got the coveted golden plate in third person solos. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is among the best selling video games for 2017. It has recently topped DOTA 2 in Steam player count.
