Preseason Patch Brings Buffs to Most League of Legends Champions

Back in July, Riot rolled out patch 7.15 that brought changes to more than 20 League of Legends champions. This time around, the developer has set the bar really high, as this week’s PBE update made it clear that the preseason update will bring tweaks to as many as 120 champs.

Back in July, Riot rolled out patch 7.15 that brought changes to more than 20 League of Legends champions. This time around, the developer has set the bar really high, as this week’s PBE update made it clear that the preseason update will bring tweaks to as many as 120 champs. This would be one of the most massive changes the League of Legends has seen in the recent years, but still, it is not as bad as it sounds.

Runes Reforged is coming to League of Legends. The LoL community is aware that the masteries systems, as well as the old runes, will be replaced by a single rune system. Expectations are the new functionality will make the pregame choice meaningful. With the presence of the current systems, this is next to impossible.

The reason is that the active rune system is frequently defined as a system of small stat boosts. Players get some CDR, a bit of armor, and 10 AD and that’s all. Once the new rune system goes live, there will be few runes to affect the stats passively. However, when the stat boosts are removed, every champion will feel much weaker. The change will be particularly noticeable in the early game when the stats do matter.

Namely, that’s the reason why 120 League of Legends champions will receive small buffs. Despite being launched at once, the buffs will not bring considerable changes to the gameplay as a whole. The main objective of the buffs would be to restore the balance.

The preseason patch, bringing the Runes Reforged and the 120 LoL champion updates is expected to arrive on November 8.
